20 Feb Heritage Forum: Partnerships & Communities

The third edition of the Heritage Forum will bring together experts from over 10 countries in Sofia on April 8 and 9 to discuss the future of Bulgaria’s cultural heritage through the lens of ‘building partnerships and communities’.

The "Heritage Forum: Partnerships & Communities" marks the third edition of this international event, set to take place on April 8-9 in Sofia. Organized by the Buzludzha Project Foundation, the Фorum will bring together experts from 10 European countries, along with representatives from institutions, NGOs, and the private sector in Bulgaria. The event will be held at Gurko Theatre Hall, 108 Georgi S. Rakovski Street, Sofia, in honor of the International Day for Monuments and Sites.

Main topics

Cultural heritage is a shared value and resource. To ensure its sustainable preservation and development, it must also be a shared responsibility. Can partnerships between institutions, NGOs, and businesses be the key to developing cultural heritage in Bulgaria? What is the role of local communities, and how can citizens be actively engaged in the heritage cause?

The event will bring together leading experts, institutions, and cultural organizationsto discuss the future of Bulgaria's cultural heritage. Both Bulgarian and international speakers will share expertise and best practices to inspire more effective management, funding, and communication of cultural heritage.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions, exchange knowledge, draw inspiration from successful international examples, and build new professional and civic networks.

Partners

The event is organized by the Buzludzha Project Foundation with the support of the European Investment Bank, the French Institute in Bulgaria, and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sofia. The Forum is funded by the EU under the international project "Developing an Inclusive Process for Communicating Contested Heritage", as part of the CERV program.

Registration

Attendance is free, but requires prior registration due to limited seating. The working languages of the event will be Bulgarian and English, with simultaneous translation provided.
