29 Jul Daily Program OPEN BUZLUDZHA 2025: An Inspiring Experience, Not Just a Program
From tours and mosaics to kites and quizzes, Buzludzha turns into a vibrant cultural hub from August 15 to 17
In the heart of the Balkan Mountains, in front of the Buzludzha Monument, the fifth edition of OPEN BUZLUDZHA festival will take place from August 15 to 17, 2025. The event celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Buzludzha Project Foundation. Entry is free, and the daytime program is more creative and inspiring than ever.

The festival’s central daytime activity is the interactive game “A Story to Share.” Visitors will be able to take part in ten themed experiences that introduce them to some of the people behind the initiative. Each experience reveals a different aspect of the cause – art, engineering, history, nature, personal memories, and vision.
Guests will have the chance to create their own mosaic jewelry, make concrete casts, and test the laws of physics by building Buzludzha’s roof out of spaghetti, inspired by the international “Spaghetti Bridge Contest.” Visitors can also join a mountain walk with the landscape architecture team or a historical tour exploring the symbols and cultural layers embedded in the site. Engineers, architects, and restorers will lead the lecture program, sharing insights into Buzludzha’s current state and future. On stage, audiences will see for the first time screenings from the “Unwritten Stories” campaign, which documents the personal memories of people whose lives are connected with Buzludzha. A fun quiz will uncover the secrets of the region.
The festival also offers a rich children’s program with creative workshops, games, and adventures. Young visitors can model and craft, launch a spaceship, hunt for treasure, learn about internet safety, and explore the region through stories and art.
OPEN BUZLUDZHA will once again decorate the monument with breathtaking “sets” – during the day, Bulgaria’s largest kites will soar across the sky, and at night the monument’s facade will be illuminated with a spectacular 3D mapping show. Viewers will be immersed in a powerful world of light and sound. For the first time, the Monument stage will host live music bands, combining concerts with a mapping spectacle. Sunsets will be accompanied by DJ sets on the “Sunset Stage.”
The OPEN BUZLUDZHA festival is not just an event – it is an invitation to rediscover the connection between past and future, between personal stories and collective memory, between people and nature. Join us from August 15 to 17 and become part of a unique and exciting edition of the festival!
The festival is held with the institutional support of the Regional Administration of Stara Zagora, the Municipality of Kazanlak, and the Shipka-Buzludzha National Park-Museum.
